Brandi Edgerton, LCPC, graduated from Lindsey Wilson College with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling & Human Development in 2020. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Upper Iowa University in 2015. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Idaho. Brandi has over 7 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health field, and over 4 years post graduate as a therapist. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as community mental health and private practice and group therapy work. Brandi is also a yoga instructor with over 8 years of experience. Brandi believes in the power of yoga in transforming both the mind and body.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Brandi taught dance for many years, and was an Applied Behavioral Analysis therapist working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. As a therapist, she has worked with individuals in various life stages including child, adolescent, and adult, and facing various life difficulties including anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, relationship issues, trauma, personality disorders, and grief and loss. She considers herself a safe and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Brandi tends to use Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the use of trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based modalities, the Yothera Method, and an overall holistic approach.
While a great portion of her work with clients is traditional talk therapy, she believe in the
“bottom up” approach to healing which focuses on addressing the body's physical sensations and nervous system regulation first, before delving into cognitive or emotional processing, essentially starting with the "base" of the brain responsible for
basic survival responses, rather than directly tackling thoughts and feelings. It allows individuals access and process trauma stored in the body, leading to greater emotional regulation and healing. These “bottom up” sessions will involve techniques such as guided meditation, visualizations, Yoga Nidra, somatic awareness, a technique she calls “intuitive journaling”, EFT tapping, with the option to add on Reiki if you choose.
Brandi is trained in a healing technique known as Reiki. Reiki means “universal life force energy” and is a Japanese Healing Technique that promotes well-being, relaxation, and healing. It may also help with pain management, anxiety, depression, PTSD, fatigue reduction. The practitioner serves as a conduit for healing energy directed into the body or energy field of the recipient with or without physical contact with the body. This means that Reiki can be used via tele-health. One benefit of Reiki via telehealth is that you can experience the benefits of Reiki without being touched, which can be useful if you have a history of certain types of trauma. I have obtained my Reiki 1 Certification through the Holy Fire Organization. In her free time, Brandi enjoys spending time with her husband Richard and their two dogs, reading, being in nature, being creative, doing art, practicing yoga, and eating lots of Mexican food.
Brandi works with the client to create treatment that is tailored to them. She believes in the use of therapy to empower individuals to find mental and emotional well-being. She values learning and is always eager to learn new ways to help her clients. She aims to create a safe space for her clients to process the past, build healthier relationships, and create a more fulfilling life. Brandi believes each human being has an inner knowing, and she hopes to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself and make choices that feel most aligned for you and your highest self.
